Passenger Trains > Train 14 still in hold status 2.19 pmDate: 09/15/19 14:26 Train 14 still in hold status 2.19 pm Author: al1hamey So far we have had 3 or now
4 Metolink inbound trains pass us as we wait . The dispatcher must be harried with the extra trains all running for the Dodgers game today . There must be a lot of disappointed fans on those trains . Same here with us being so late on the reroute !! Al Posted from Android Date: 09/15/19 14:50 Re: Train 14 still in hold status 2.19 pm Author: chrisparker Hey Al
I don't envy you. We rode 14 yesterday and arrived Oakland at 12:36 am this morning. Sounds like your pushing 2:30am or 3:00am tomorrow morning. Question Are you staying in Oakland or going beyond. We lost our reservation yesterday/ this morning. We were stranded and walked .6 miles to another hotel and paid 189 dollars. Jack London Inn cancelled it with out communicating with us, just a no at 1:00am. Heads up call the hotel and communicate. We got late yesterday at Bakersfield with the crew not being there on time, sat for over an hour. Got shut down with a UP south bound near Tipton who struck a vehicle, over an hour before they ran the UP through and we could go. The Wye was at 45 minutes. Good time speaking with friends on board and see old faces. Looks like 11 is really messed up. We got the San Joaquin out at 7:36am and traded in the 11 reservation thank god. Unless it has undergone a massive renovation recently, it has deteriorated to something just above a “pay by the hour” hotel. Back in the late 80’s, I stayed there a lot while working on Shoreline Amphitheatre. Yes, that was a haul driving to Mountain View but it was great sitting poolside with a couple of beers watching the action, after a long day deliberating with Bill Graham.

He was a challenging individual, but one had to be to navigate the music scene out of the 60s into the 80s and build what he did. He was a great ringmaster for a very long, strange trip; wanting the venues to support the music. And handing out breakfast in the morning after a loooonnnng show at Winterland or Kaiser, he could be downright charming. The long declines of the SP and WP empires from the Bay Area weren’t the only great things we lost as the years wore on. Bruce |
