Amtrak EVP Kenneth Hylander Leaving Already
Author: PC1974

EVP Chief Safety Officer, Kenneth Hylander, will be re-retiring Nov. 15, 2019 after less than two years on the job. He will be replaced by yet another airline exec, Steve Predmore.

Now your already got one of the nine EVP's gone only one month after the Chicago town hall. Who wants to place bets on when the next one will go?

Steve Predmore, a 30-year aviation and bus safety professional, has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Safety Officer at Amtrak, effective Nov. 4, 2019. Predmore will succeed Ken Hylander, who will return to retirement on Nov. 15, 2019.

Chances are it was nothing but news of more downgrades on attempts on dismantling Amtrak!

There are still more good old boys that need to berun through the system on very short terms in office in order to recieve large sums of money for doing nothing productive and then taking their 'well deserved and earned retirement'. and how much did this fine gent get ? ???

Hylander was never expected to stay long.  He is a long-time safety professional who was called upon to get Amtrak on solid footing with implementing a Safety Management System, which is the benchmark model in the aviation industry.  It is also something the NTSB has strongly recommended that Amtrak implement; not just some idea that "airline boy" has brought over from Delta.  Predmore is a really good fit to carry on this work.

I see Hylander's tenure much the same as Wick Moorman's-- a seasoned professional who was needed to work as "a bridge" while things transitioned under the new leadership team.

A troubled organization like Amtrak can do well by having an experienced outsider come in, look around, and make recommendations.   Just come in, call 'em like you see 'em, and leave.

Anybody who's been a senior manager at Delta has enough money they can play golf and sail a 60 foot yacht for the rest of their lives.  They don't need Amtrak, and the nonsense that comes with being a government enterprise.
