Author: joemvcnj If they have been doing any Xmas season operations, it doesn't read like it will happen this year regardless. Some economic damage will have been done. With Thanksgiving late this year, it will be a short Xmas season anyway, which is not beneficial to retailers.

This railroad already pays taxes as a business to the State of Pennsylvania and by being a common carrier railroad, they have the right to operate both freight and passenger trains over their railroad. The local officials of Jim Thorpe should be thrilled that these tourist passenger trains bring in people to the area who in turn spend money with the local restaurants and other establishments which generates jobs and taxes. End of story.

Unless you’re a cheap stalwart, you more than likely wouldn’t notice. Posted from iPhone Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/21/19 11:41 by JohnM. Date: 11/21/19 10:22 Re: Jim Thorpe Starting to Fold on the Tax Issue? Author: Lackawanna484 Perhaps the merchants etc noticed a drop in business?

If he agrees to pay anything, would that not put every tourist railroad in the target zone for new taxes? Some could not ever survive such an idea.
