Passenger Trains > Long AutoTrain 53(30)

2 P40s
2 Coach diners
4 Coaches
4 Sleepers
2 First Class diners
5 Sleepers
30 Auto Carriers (usually 20 or so, last few days have been a couple of cars shorter than that)

Now that's a TRAIN!

Good thing they don't have station stops. That train would have trouble making track speed.

53(30) arrived early, so all was well and it wasn't overtaken by a New York City trash train!

It's scheduled at freight train speed anyway.

Probably had to balance the number of auto carriers between terminals.

The length of the train should be growing as peak season happens over the next few weeks.

All it takes is a cranky CSX dispatcher on the single-track segments. 

Good to see a healthy train - but it wasn’t long ago that it consistently hit the maximum length of 50 cars. Hope the changes mid January will get it back to it’s former longer consists on a consistent basis. We had an excellent trip in September- good service and on time.

17 passenger cars is the maximum on the train because of platform length.

Amtrak wants to hit maximum revenue per car, not maximum cars.

Does anyone know if they are putting two Deluxe Sleepers in the mix, or trying to push it and add a third (as in three Deluxe for each of the two consists). Amtrak only has six of the Deluxe Sleepers, but not sure if they are truly reserving any or not. VIA crosses its fingers and operates all its Prestige Sleepers in peak season, would think the Auto Train should do the same.
