Passenger Trains > Metrolink is running Special service for Women's Day March in LA

Just in case anyone sees a few Metrolink Trains running next Saturday.
It will be for the 4th Annual Women's Day March in Los Angeles.
Not all Metrolink Lines. Will be running the extra Trains.
Just Ventura County, San Bernardino, Perris/91 and Antelope Valley Lines

I unintentionally rode Metrolink the morning of the first Woman's March.  This was on the San Bernardino Line.  When I got on at Fontana, my group got the last seats and some had to stand.  The train was virtually at maximum capacity once the stop at Upland was made, not a single place for another passenger standing or sitting.  The conductor didn't even open the doors from Claremont to El Monte, simply used the intercom speaker to announce the train was full and to take the next one.  LA Union Station was as busy as I had ever seen it, I imagine it was only ever that busy before during World War II.

The thing that got me was that a small group of passengers on our car had decided that 8 to 10 seats on the upper level needed to not be used by any passenger because they needed them to store there protest signs.  When one passenger suggested they move the signs to allow more people to sit down, this group of passengers almost got violent.  They were adamant there signs remain right there in those seats.

It is about what I would expect from militant femi-nazis.  

What exactly are they protesting? If they hate it so much here, get out and live someplace else. I hear Zimbabwe and Venezuela are nice this time of year. Heck, there is even one Garratt still working the yard in Bulowayo.

I think they are angry because they are women. Or identified as one yesterday or last week. Who knows???

It is also the same day that the ONE LIFE LA march takes place. That starts at noon at the Plaza across from LAUS and goes up to Heritage park, site of former SP Bullring Yard. This keeps all of the Pro-Life folks away from the feminazi crowd, which did happen several years ago. Between the two events, Metrolink gets slammed on the morning inbounds and afternoon outbounds.

Equating the women marchers with Nazis?  Seriously??

Many railfans claim that they know more about history than other Americans.  The two posters who wrote "Feminazi" suggest otherwise.  They need to go to their local libraries and crack open a few books documenting what real Nazis did.

Thank you, Elizebeth.  Some people just don't get it.

My 2 cents: I thought Trainorders is for and about all things trains, which is why I paid good money to join. If I wanted to read right-wing horsecrap I can get it at numerous other sites for free (and worth every penny).
As for the special trains, it looks like Metrolink is dealing proactively with the surge in ridership, and its associated gear. Political demonstrators: another clientele discovering the utility of riding trains! That should make everybody here happy, even those offended by the idea of someone exercising their Constitutional rights.​

Bravo Elizabeth, calling out the he-man women-haters club. People who think that people who don’t agree with them should leave are the ones who should leave. I’d like my America back, please, but as a patriotic American who remembers why and how this country was founded, I’m okay letting those whose interests the current regime represents stick around until it’s their turn again. I’ll even stay off their lawns. Sadly, democracy does not seem to be fashionable anymore.

Glad to hear Metrolink is ready for the crowds, though this thread has gone off the rails.

Are you so certain that you remember how and why this country was founded? The people who founded it thought democracy was detestable. Franklin's take on it was democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner.

Indeed, real Nazis murdered millions of innocent people. They were evil. Completely inappropriate to make comparisons between them and these marchers that will demand continued unfettered access to abortion.

Hitler believed a main role of women was to bear as many children as possible for the Reich.  Accordingly, there was almost a complete ban on abortions for Aryan women in Nazi Germany beginning in 1935.  Access to contraceptives was also sharply restricted.

I think about Franklin's 'A republic, if you can keep it' quote on nearly a daily basis these days. And yet, despite or perhaps because of all of the differing views and disagreements amongst the founders, we ended up with a Constitution that has mostly held this fractious place together for quite some time, excepting the horrors of the 1860s and coming close to the same at other times. No democracy is perfect, and ours has certainly not always served all of our people well, but I think the goal of a more perfect union is one that's well worth pursuing. Suggesting that people leave if they don't like our current situation is not in keeping with those ideals.

I think that's something we need to keep in mind on TO. There are people on this board whose opinions I completely disagree with, yet I am generally glad to see them back in action when they disappear for a while. as a mix of opinions often leads to the best and most well-informed solutions.

I think you missed the point of Nomad's bad faith argument equating women who want control of their body to Nazi-esque genocide.

Well, I can certainly understand that women want control of their body, but "their" body isn't the one that ends up getting killed and dismembered in the process.

Good euphemism, though. Way more palatable than actually saying what the outcome of the procedure is.

What give you the right to enforce your religious belief on everyone else?

Certainly not the First Amendment.
