O train on Raton sub

Eastbound between Mindeman and Timpas. Jacks point seen above the leader.
Downtown LaJunta CO on the 8th.
It came via the C&S-FWD route

Pretty sure this train left Argentine Yard (Kansas City Kansas) on the evening of 06 January, went to Kansas City Union Staion, them departed westbound the next morning on the 7th at 8am central time routed to Mulvane, Kansas via Emporia, ElDorado and Augusta.

Love that superelevation in the curve of photo 1. What is the max speed there?

Both the curve the train has just left (not visible) and the curve it will immediately be entering are restricted to 75 MPH in the timetable.  The curve is 1.50 degrees and in 1995 the Santa Fe had 3 1/2 inches of superelevation on it.

Great shot, thanks!  Are Amtrak crews the only ones qualified between La Junta and Trinidad nowadays?

YUP

No C&S shots. Didn't chase it.
BNSF has a few still qualified LaJunta to Trinidad. Still run trains across that portion.
