Passenger Trains > Chargers CAN save the day! Hiawatha troublesDate: 01/13/20 22:34 Chargers CAN save the day! Hiawatha troubles Author: sethamtrak 1. On Monday night we see train 342 departing Glenview. The night of the 11th Cabbage 90368 decided it was done working, Charger 4617 saved the day. After the arrival of train 340, the charger was added to the south end and then train 341 departed an hour late.
2. On Monday night we also see (the late) train 341 arriving in Glenview. Earlier in the day engine 68 decided it was done working and when train 340 arrived into Chicago, Engine 822 (Phase III Retro P40) was added to the north end resulting in a 15 minute delay to to 341. Better than the hour delay adding the charger on the south end of the other Hiawatha set. Also of note is that 90221 is on the south end with the 822. This 90221/68-822 set will be train 330/331/334/335/338/339/342 on Tuesday the 14th. Seth- www.youtube.com/user/sethamtrak You must be a registered subscriber to watch videos. Join Today! I'm confused, Cabbage's have no motive power and require a locomotive to push the train. You mention that the cabbage quit working and 4617 saved the day. Did the control stand on the cabbage quit working and that is why 4617 came to rescue? Date: 01/14/20 12:00 Re: Chargers CAN save the day! Hiawatha troubles Author: Tominde It's obvious that the first video is of a good model RR. Real trains don't accelerate that fast. ;>)

I believe 90368 is known to have speedometer issues, putting the train into a penalty application. The cabbage on the Hiawatha tend to break down a lot. Not sure what the particular circumstance was today.

Hiawatha troubles Author: kevink There are a number of safety-related issues that will cause a NPCU to be taken out of service. In addition to the speedometer, this can include lights, bells and horns.
