Track-A-Train kaput
Author: GenePoon

Probably those who use Amtrak Track-A-Train and the other train-tracking services that are dependent on the same database already know, but they're kaput.  Went out in the wee hours, Sunday.

Current T-a-T display for 3(8) shown, and Transitdocs current map.

Just show up 30 minutes before advertised time and wait 6 hours on the Crescent.

Track-A-Train and Transitdocs use the GPS telemetry feed.  I believe Dixieland uses Amtrak train status reports which, when the telemetry feed goes down, can be backed up by conductor, agent and host railroad reports.

Can this be blamed on Anderson ?   Maybe he just found out about a useful system.

What will you avid Amtrak watchers do now for entertainment?

They may have to outside and watch trains in person. The horror!

Appears to be still down this afternoon, February 10, 2020

I use transitdocs.com as my go-to Status locati8on.

The Amtrak GPS tracing system had been on at times, but only sporadically and very briefly. Certainly not usefully.

Looks like it's back up.

Fingers firmly crossed and wood smartly knocked on.
