Almost exactly the same as the NRE units for QUBE in Australia. I am curious how they'll do on 3ft track with those tight curves.

Shades of the old UPRR "verandas".  (This may require a certain amount of squinting)

Any guesses as to the route these will take west?

At least they are unique.  Not -9's in narrow gauge trucks...

They will going to a barge in Seattle, so I'd guess they will go north through the twin cities and then BNSF Northern Transcon

Well, the -9's on BB bogies are still pretty unique outside of Brazil ;)

In all seriousness, I do find it interesting that these units seem to be using the pilot mounted horn as well. Makes me wonder about how connected the procurement team has been with the realities of operating the WP&Y, even in the summer, or if this pic is not one of the new units but an original unit for QUBE.

WP&Y is making the same mistake that the Mount Washington Cog Railway did, the old locomotives provite most of the charm.  Would you take a selfie in front of that?

You can't be serious!  The vast majority of all the passengers from all the giant cruise ships, that ride the WP&Y are clueless about what is pulling the train/trains, except of course for the steam locomotives.

Exactly...having ridden the White Pass more than 50 times over the years, the passengers constantly complain about the smoke & noise.  Unfortunately, the new owners are turning this once great historic railroad into a glorified Disney ride.  Photo from Skagway news.

Boy, aesthetics are just completely out of the equation in modern locomotive building - that thing is butt-ugly!!

The cruise ship passengers who ride the trains today couldn't care less what the locomotives look like.

Have you written the railroad and told them they are "doing it all wrong"?

The Skykomish Virtual Railfan Camera will have a good look at them. If they pass during the daylight hours

From what I have read is that. These first two locomotives for the White Pass are not exactly out of the box new. These first two were protypes first sent down to Austalia and then returned to the USA. Number three and later will be all new units.

And they probably got a nice discount on those demonstrator units too.
