Almost exactly the same as the NRE units for QUBE in Australia. I am curious how they'll do on 3ft track with those tight curves. Date: 02/11/20 10:37 Re: First Pics of White Pass’ New Locomotives from NRE Author: BoilingMan Shades of the old UPRR "verandas". (This may require a certain amount of squinting)

They will going to a barge in Seattle, so I'd guess they will go north through the twin cities and then BNSF Northern Transcon Date: 02/11/20 11:28 Re: First Pics of White Pass’ New Locomotives from NRE Author: zorz pdt Wrote:

Well, the -9's on BB bogies are still pretty unique outside of Brazil ;) In all seriousness, I do find it interesting that these units seem to be using the pilot mounted horn as well. Makes me wonder about how connected the procurement team has been with the realities of operating the WP&Y, even in the summer, or if this pic is not one of the new units but an original unit for QUBE. Would you take a selfie in front of that?

Would you take a > selfie in front of that? You can't be serious! The vast majority of all the passengers from all the giant cruise ships, that ride the WP&Y are clueless about what is pulling the train/trains, except of course for the steam locomotives. Date: 02/11/20 12:25 Re: First Pics of White Pass’ New Locomotives from NRE Author: SvenMolson Exactly...having ridden the White Pass more than 50 times over the years, the passengers constantly complain about the smoke & noise. Unfortunately, the new owners are turning this once great historic railroad into a glorified Disney ride. Photo from Skagway news.

These first two locomotives for the White Pass are not exactly out of the box new. These first two were protypes first sent down to Austalia and then returned to the USA. Number three and later will be all new units.

And they probably got a nice discount on those demonstrator units too. |
