Passenger Trains > Empire Builder LightsDate: 02/25/20 21:49 Empire Builder Lights Author: Quakerengr Friend of ours has travelled from St Paul, Mn to Whitefish on Amtrak 7, Empire Builder. Previous to this past November, when riding in coach, they turned the overhead lights off in the coaches for the sleep hours..
Then this past November on a trip and Heading West during the 2nd week of Feb with a return this last week, they never turned the overhead lights off. Fortunately she had pair of eye masks to shield the light. Was wondering if policy changed or if car mechanical issues??? She did say that the OBS were excellent on way back, thanking folks for riding along with Amtrak. I did mention that she should have asked them about this as she was a paying customer. Thanks. Failure to do so is a violation of Service Standards, Crew Functions and Responsibilities, Train Attendant-Coach responsibilities, 6. L. 3(h) So, there is no policy change. Mechanical failure is a possibility...but in BOTH directions??? There are further references to the use of a flashlight when locating passengers for detraining at overnight stops. Wouldn't have to if the lights were on! Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 02/26/20 00:06 by GenePoon. Three hours before my destination of Everett

Three hours before Everett would have been in the vicinity of Leavenworth, after 6am, which wouldn't be unreasonable if they had been turned off overnight. Incidentally, here is Peak45068's train, 7(24) stopped at Skykomish WA for an eastbound, coal empties led by BNSF 9198. Virtual Railfan screen capture. |
