In today's corporate bail out, What is Amtrak getting?
Author: Soo715

I know there was discussion of the prospect of this a few days ago, but in the bill passed by the US Senate last night and being voted on by the House today what did  Amtrak end up getting?

Bill text here.

https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/FINAL%20FINAL%20CARES%20ACT.pdf

Amtrak provisions begin at p. 837.

$492 million earmarked for the NEC "account", and $526 million to the National Network. Text indicates funds may be freely moved between these accounts. Also, the bill provides that no state should be charged more than 80% of the amount charged in FY19 for rail passenger service under Sec. 209 of the PRIIA. The bill allows the "National Network" account to be used for the purpose of offsetting these state charges. The intention seems to be limit train-offs due to collapsing revenues on the state-supported trains.

I'd be surprised if the non-NEC funds are primarily for Amtrak California, considering who pushed for the special interests.....
