Passenger Trains > Caltrain Timetable to Shrink Even FurtherDate: 03/26/20 13:06 Caltrain Timetable to Shrink Even Further Author: milepost20 Before the health crisis Caltrain operated 92 trains on weekdays(46 round trips). This was
reduced to 70 trains with the elimination of all Baby Bullet service on March 17th. A further reduction will now come into effect this Monday 3/30 with a 42 train schedule. Service will basically be hourly with a few additional runs during peak hours. All trains will be locals stopping at all stations. One of the three Gilroy roundtrips will be suspended. Weekend service will continue on the old schedule(you can still go to Broadway and Atherton!). The latest figures have Caltrain ridership down by 86%. The new timetable effective 3/30: http://www.caltrain.com/Assets/Assets/pdfs/CT_PrinterFriendlySchedule_03-30-2020_FINAL.PDF Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 03/26/20 18:54 by milepost20. Hard to believe ridership would drop that much. 42 trains is less than SP had in the bad old days of the late 70s before the state took over the service. I believe there were 46 trains then, and of course, no Gilroy service.

It's 5:22 pm Eastern as I type this, and nearly every expressway in Atlanta is green. Every expressway in Miami/Ft Lauderdale and Tampa/St Pete is green. The only yellow/red in Orlando is because of two wrecks. Same story in DC, Baltimore, Philly, NYC, and Boston. At this time of day, a traffic map of those metros is usually solid orange/red.
