CA Zephyr, reduced consist
Author: SPB

The westbound CA Zephyr went through Truckee this morning about 40 minutes late.  The consist is reduced to six cars: two P42s, no baggage car, two sleepers, diner, lounge and two coaches.  Yesterday's eastbound Zephyr must not have been turned in Oakland as the baggage car was on the rear.
Probably few passengers aboard which might make community seating in the diner more comfortable and able to accomodate proper spacing of patrons.
Downtown Truckee is normally bustling on a Sunday morning, but today there were three cars parked on the main street when Amtrak made its brief stop.  Pretty well shut down there except for the two gas stations at the crossing.

According to Amtrak.com, the Zephyr will cease operating only between Reno and Denver.  The Zephyr will continue running Emeryville to Reno and also Chicago to Denver.

The Trains News Wire story says 6 will turn at Reno today; guess we'll find out later today if it does, but as you say, no service disruption is shown.

There seem to be differences about the CZ schedule between the Amtrak long distance Twitter alerts (which the Trains story referenced) and the Amtrak Service Advisory on the website.

Today #6 has already gone through Reno and Truckee heading to Emeryville.  So it won't be turning at Reno.

That was 5 of the 27th going west, not today's 6 which is due into Reno about 4 PM PDT.

Here is the latest Amtrak long distance Twitter Alert concerning 6(30) from two hours ago:

Amtrak Alerts

California Zephyr Train 6 which is scheduled to departed Emeryville (EMY) on 3/30 will originate in Denver (DEN) with no alternate transportation.

Transitdocs and Dixieland show 6 continuing on east from Reno, departing 1 minute late.  So the Trains News Wire report that said 6 would turn at Reno is incorrect.
