It appears from your video that the northbound leg of the Palmetto service has the baggage car in the rear.  That first coach behind the engine must get noisy with all the horn blasts at grade crossings!

Yeah I don't know how Amtrak decides where to place the baggage car.
Behind the engine(s) or being the last car.
I suppose it's simply however they feel like placing it.
For me I would rather have it being the engine then be in the last seat in the trailing car so I could look out the murky back window to watch the tracks behind me.

Yeah watching YouTube VRF Ashland lately it's really been a mixed bag for both the regionals and the long distance trains and of course
the "big daddy" Autotrain as to the length of the consist.  Plus who knows how many passengers are even inside riding.

Do they turn the train in NYP or is the train set going in both directions with the same line up. If it is not turned, then it's behind the locomotive 50 percent of the time. Personally like laying in my bunk in a sleeper, listening to whistle. Be even better if it was a steam locomotive.

Glad you liked.
I honestly don't know how they handle the consist at Penn or Miami.
I havn't paid enough attention when watching YouTube VRF Ashland to "follow" the various long distance Amtrak trains.

If interested I have additonal videos on my YouTube page at:

I have more to add too.

Thanks
