Passenger Trains > Emeryville, CA StationDate: 04/14/01 20:10 Emeryville, CA Station Author: BJRubino Hi all,
I was looking for some info on the Amtrak Emeryville, CA station. I am going to be taking a trip in a few weeks and may need to park my car there for 3-4 days, is this advisable? What is the surrounding area like? Also, do they require you to pay? Thanks, BJR Date: 04/14/01 20:22 RE: Emeryville, CA Station Author: modorney You may want to park at the Oakland Marriott/Convention Center - pay parking - about $10 per day - and take a bus to Jack LOndon Square.

Last time I was in Emeryville, the station parking lot was "under construction". They are building some office buildings there or something. Another parking lot (about a block away from the station) has been opened up for Amtrak passengers. I'm not sure if they charge for it or not, but if you're taking an Amtrak train it isn't very expensive. The lot is fenced in and there is a security patrol that rides through there frequently. Right around the station is OK, but the farther away from the station you get, the worse it gets. I would have no qualms about parking my car in Emeryville, but I wouldn't take a walk to explore the area. If you're brave, you can take the bridge across the tracks to the shopping center. But, the elevator and bridge don't look too savory. No problem hanging around the station or walking to your car, however. Good luck. I visit there all the time (like today), and have never felt un-safe, just well fed. Just 'cause you see some people that are not exactly like you doesn't make an area unsafe.
