Woman Set out on Ramp at Flagstaff
Author: YardLimit

This morning a wheelchair bound person was put on the ramp by the crew of Amtrak 4.  About five minutes after the train departed, the Flagstaff police collected her.  Does anyone know the story about this?  Please don't speculate.

Call Flagstaff PD, they're the only ones who know the real story. If they'll release any info since we really don't have a need to know.

Yes, this kinda fits into personal information.

At least somebody showed up to assist.

Maybe another Amtrak conductor called the police.

This is a bit unusual. Normally when the throw someone off the train the train doesn't depart until the authorities arrive.

Seen this several times--this usually means the person set off did not have a ticket

If you want to see it, it occurs at about 0420 on this morning's Virtual Railfan feed from the Flagstaff platform.  Use the south camera (coaches).  Just search YT for Flagstaff Railcam, should be free.  Looked to me like the ATK staff were very gentle.  I would hope they left because they knew the police were enroute.  They arrived within 5-10 minutes of #4's departure.  Hopefully someone will let us know what happened, but I realize it's private.

And since it may be very private I DO NOT care. Since the authorities arrived it was taken care of and it is still none of my business.

An elderly disabled person was taken off a train at 4AM ish with no one to help her.  Someone on the Flagstaff chat called the police.  I do care.

I'm not clear, was she "put off" the train, or was Flagstaff her destination? If the latter, I have seen numerous cases where a disabled/elderly passenger detrained at their stop and there was no one there to meet them or assist them. There are instances (sometimes known as "granny dumping") when one part of a family sends someone like this to another part of the family without telling them they are coming.

Sounds like a normal station stop. The train is not required to stay until all passengers are picked up by local transportation.

the train got in at 4:13 or so they waited till 4:25 (departure time) before they got her off allowing her to stay on board as long as possible.

Maybe someone was supposed to pick her up and was late getting to the station.

DO YOU care enough find out the entire story, or just enough to pass judgement on others?

As others mentioned, do YOU have first hand knowledge that was NOT her destination stop and that others that were supposed to be there to pick her up were the ones that actually FAILED to do what they were supposed to do and be there on time?

All it would have taken is to approach the lady and ask if she was being met and is all right.

Hope you're never in her place Scrooge, alone on a night-time, deserted platform and perhaps wondering what's next.

Speculation is evidently hard to resist!
