Significantly shorter AutoTrain today
Author: GenePoon

AutoTrain 53(6):

Two units, coach diner/lounge, three coaches, three sleepers, Sleeper diner, Sleeper Lounge, three sleepers, Transition sleeper (thirteen Superliners), thirteen auto carriers.

I believe this is the consist that lost many of its auto carriers in the wreck.  However it is also short four Superliners compared to yesterday's 53(5).

It left two Superliners behind in Sanford.

Looks like there are available seats in coach, and in all sleeper accommodations northbound for tomorrow's departure northbound. Saturday's northbound also has the lowest bucket / cheapest coach fares available at $89

In this time of "stay at home" and "safer at home" and social distancing, why are so many people still doing leisure travel, which I would guess that 90% or more of the passengers on the AutoTrain are leisure traveling.

Yes, there are people that need to travel for essential purposes, but leisure travel is not in any way essential travel.

Wouldn't you be required to go into quarantine for 14 days after your arrival in Florida?

I expect that many of the folks on the northbound have spent most of the winter in Florida and it's time to get home.

Yes.

I didn't post the southbound info, but there's a LOT of availability.

Here in this part of South Florida, most snowbirds and Canadians are long gone.
