Given that I have my brother living in Hollywood and family friends living in Southern Cali, I spent four nights in LA and spent quality family time with my brother. I met up with my parents and we saw other family friends too. I was able to get a lot of railfanning done. After getting off of Amtrak Sunset Limited Train # 1, I wasted no time and decided to ride the Eastside section of the Gold Line to Atlantic back to Union Station where I switched to the Red Line to Vermont and Beverly Station.

3. Signage at Vermont & Beverly Red Line Station. I love the signage that they give. It sort of reminds me of the Washington Metro.

1. Taken from the train window of my Amtrak train to Oceanside, I saw this former NJT Comet I now in UTA paint scheme. These Comet Is have been running on a few Metrolink trains, I guess, for testing purposes so they can operate on Frontrunner.

1. A northbound Amtrak Pacific Surfliner Train is about to come to a stop at LA's Union Station. Shot taken from the Ceasar Chavez Blvd Bridge.

2. Metrolink Riverside Line Train # 410 is only a few minutes into its journey after departing LA. He is bound for Riverside with a consist of an F59PHI, a former NJT Comet 1, and four Metrolink Bombardier Bilevels.

Metrolink 800 is a standard F40PH. It's an ex-Amtrak unit and was the only running F40PH on Metrolink. It was just recently retired.

1. Northbound Amtrak Train # 763 is minutes into Union Station. After Union Station in LA, it will head up to Goleta.

2. Metrolink train passing along the LA River with the Downtown LA Skyline in the background.

3. Taken on September 2nd, 2010. A very late running Pacific Surfliner Train # 566, bound for San Diego, is about to duck beneath me. I took this shot from the 4th Street Overpass very near Downtown LA.
