Amtrak 2010 Cross County Train Trip: Part 3: LA-PDX on Amtrak CS
Author: Passfanatic

It was a great time in LA and now, I am ready to board Amtrak Coast Starlight Train # 14 at LA Union Station and take that to Portland, Oregon.

Pictures 1 and 2 were taken inside LA Union Station.

Picture 3 was of a Metrolink Commuter train at LA Union Station with an MP36, a former NJT Comet I, now in UTA Paint Scheme, and Metrolink's own bilevels.

Unfortunately, Amtrak Train # 14 was involved in a pedestrian fatality around Hayward so that put us down about three hours for a lot of the rest of the journey. That enabled me to view the extreme Northern California during the daytime and was extremely impressed with the scenery in Northern Cali!
1. Taken in Dunsmuir, Ca

2. Way in Northern California.

3. I think we entered Oregon.

1. Amtrak Train # 14 at Klamath Falls Station-looking north.

2. Amtrak Train # 14 at Klamath Falls Station-looking south.

3. An Amtrak Thruway Bus-at this point-we made up a little time. We were 2.5 hours down but that's late enough for those Coast Starlight passengers who wanted to connect to the Portland section of the Empire Builder in PDX so now, they have to get off at Klamath Falls and then switch to the bus which would probably take them to Pasco.

In these present times, I am trying not to miss a beat with uploading these pictures to trainorders while helping out around the house. No long railfanning trips for me by train or just in general until things ease up. Thanks everyone not only giving me compliments but correcting me on my captions in a professional manner. There is a lot of spots along these trips that I don't remember the towns and I am afraid to say that as I upload more threads, I may misidentify information. I will keep my error rate low.
