Hopefully these "artists" are sent to Riker's Island with plenty of time to paint each cell.........

Yeah, that Daily News site is a disaster. I gave up after reading three paragraphs.

Only charged with misdemeanors. Probably back out on the street before the cops had their paperwork done.

I say make them clean it all up - using Q-Tips!

Beltran, who sources say was arrested with paint on his hands and clothes, was featured in a 1996 New York Times article where he vowed to paint legally and talked about the hardships of going legit.

So he makes more money tagging rail cars for free???

A lot of those guys are actually pretty good artists but for whatever reason "normal" art doesn't work for them.

They're a menace. We had endless issues with them in Victoria,BC until we caught 4 of them red handed one night and locked them up in the tool room for 36 hours. After that no more problems.

Did you pass them food and water for their detention ?

When I was in Victoria, BC in 2006, they had quite a vagrancy and drug problem. I did not expect that. Just walk a block from the pretty harbor, and there they were, all along Main Street. Hotel staffs were continually throwing them out of the lobbies and bathrooms. They were lying all over the tracks at the VIA station.

I can't even view the NY Times paper - if I were a
student, I'd could get my propaganda for free.  I
wonder - did the NY Times article glorify the work
of these vandals?

It all looks like "art" until it's on your business or
your car.  Glad to hear they got caught - don't need
to return to the years when graffiti was everywhere.

Knowing the NYT, they'll find a way to "both sides" it like they do everything else. . .

Easy to not know that because of the way responses queue up on Trainorders.... I got to your response before I got to FloridaTrainGuy's, too, even though his was posted before yours.

NYT is offering free electronic subscriptions during the pandemic.
