It was a neat train to photograph.

Does anyone know how many times the AOE went across Canada - taking the same route as VIA Rail's Canadian on the northern trans-on route via Jasper/Edmonton? Did they just make it for one season/trip, or did it make multiple seasons/trips? I remember being on the Canadian when a service manager announced in the Park Car that we would likely be "parking next to AOE when arriving into Vancouver station the following morning." Someone then said to "be sure and take pictures as that will be the last time the train will be in Canada." They were friends with a chef aboard the AOE and it had been announced internally to the AOE staff that the train would not be traversing through Canada any more. Again, no reason really given. |
