Passenger Trains > NY NJ Port Authority seeks stimulus fundingDate: 05/21/20 13:19 NY NJ Port Authority seeks stimulus funding Author: Lackawanna484 The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has asked for federal assistance to support its major infrastructure efforts. There's a list of the projects (the LGA airtrain, Newark airtrain, bus terminal, new terminals at JFK and EWR, etc) but the Amtrak Gateway tunnel isn't mentioned. PANYNJ is supposed to be a major funder on behalf of the two states.

Gateway is not. Screwed up priorities. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 05/21/20 14:26 by joemvcnj. Date: 05/21/20 15:51 Re: NY NJ Port Authority seeks stimulus funding Author: GenePoon Gateway isn't PANYNJ. It's Amtrak, which needs to fight its own battle.

"The Gateway Program Development Corporation (GDC), a New Jersey non-profit, was formed in November 2016 to oversee and deliver the Program. GDC works closely with stakeholders, including the United States Department of Transportation, Amtrak, NJ TRANSIT, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, to advance this critical program. This structure and the coordinated efforts from the Gateway Program’s stakeholders build on a call to action in November 2015, by former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer, Robert Menendez and Cory Booker. At that time, a framework was announced for advancing the Gateway Program, including the formation of GDC.The Gateway Program Development Corporation (GDC) was established to oversee and deliver the Gateway Program, with support from federal and local partner agencies." |
