Passenger Trains > good times at capistrano beach #1

while staying at capistrano beach (between san clemente and dana point, ca) at least 5 yrs ago, our room had a great view of the ocean and surfline.

here is a s/b metrolink commuter train in the "push mode" enroute to a station stop at san clemente.............

I've stayed at the adjacent timeshare about half a dozen times, great location. Last time I was there (11/17), five freight trains went by in three hours once--unfortunately, those hours were 10pm-1am. Still, lots of Amtrak and Metrolink traffic and a great view. Loved that restaurant too.

it was a while ago, but i am pretty sure we stayed at the "capistrano surfside inn."

here is my ATTEMPT at a "sunset" video with a s/b surfliner heading towards the san clemente pier..................

The timeshare is called the Riviera Beach and Spa Resort. It's just south of where Highway 1 and the tracks turn to follow the ocean, directly across from Doheny State Beach. Most if not all of the one-bedroom units have balcomies facing the ocean (that's where I took my photos from), but many of the two-bedroom ones don't have an ocean view. The pedestrian overpass across the street can be good for photos too. The only grade crossing nearby is a quiet zone, so the trains can sneak up on you.

Cool videos guys, the attempt at sunset was awesome!

The locals call this area "Capo Beach". Capistrano is just too long to say.
