Passenger Trains > Bad day in FloridaDate: 06/25/20 20:31 Bad day in Florida Author: RevRandy As the attached screen shot shows, 98, 52, and 92 are all stopped short of the Buffalo Bluff bridge over the St. Johns River south of Palatka Florida. The Bascule lift bridge is experiencing problems connected to a power outage in the area.
(Amtrak is reporting it as "Buffalo Creek Drawbridge" which is in Buffalo NY -- this is known as the Buffalo Bluff darwbridge) Date: 06/25/20 22:14 Re: Bad day in Florida Author: PHall The bridge doesn't have a back up generator?
Date: 06/26/20 01:26 Re: Bad day in Florida Author: SP4360 Time to find the hand crank.
Date: 06/26/20 04:04 Re: Bad day in Florida Author: amtrakbill This is the bridge and track CSX wants to hand over to Amtrak
This bridge has had the same problems since the 1970’s as I had first hand experience sitting on a train going to Miami waiting 4 hours for power to be restored Posted from iPhone Date: 06/26/20 06:13 Re: Bad day in Florida Author: RNinRVR Poor 98 lost 8 hours due to this, 92 was far enough back to have only lost just over 3.

Date: 06/26/20 09:45 Re: Bad day in Florida Author: RNinRVR That must have taken some time and muscle power to crank down that bridge.

Sad! Posted from Android Date: 06/26/20 19:20 Re: Bad day in Florida Author: MdRailfan And the good news is: after July 6 Amtrak will only have two trains to worry about getting beyond the bridge.
