Salt Lake City Station Temporarily Closed

Effective June 27 & 28 2020

Effective Saturday night and Sunday morning, June 27 and 28, the Salt Lake City, UT, station depot is temporarily closed.

Passengers will not have access to the inside of the station or restrooms during this time. Proceed around the building to the platform to board trains.

Please check Amtrak.com or the mobile app for the most up to date schedules.

What a stupid, stupid operation!

There could be a concern about a threat from the homeless, Antifa or other "protestors" to make Amtrak delete the use of station facilities.
Perhaps the solution is a plan by Amtrak and SLC Police to position a car at the station during operational hours, or even better, a few National Guardsmen. 

There is no excuse for a station facility to not offer necessary rooms to passengers or the warmth of the station during inclement weather.
Time for Amtrak and the particular governmental agencies to step in to guard and assist Americans in transit.  SMH wondering why this is such a problem.

Perhaps the station agent has been affected by coronavirus. The station is a pair of containers, isn't it?

The local newspaper says local protests have been mostly local people.

To paraphrase a POV attributed to a Native American, "Until you have walked one mile in my Amtrak employee moccasins..." well you get the point. Passengers need to be served especially in a large city--find an alternative!

Station "building" is closed.  Train service continues.
