Passenger Trains > Crescent rolls through Eddystone

Here we have today's southbound Crescent rolling through Eddystone, Pa. 10 minutes out of Philadelphia and just past the site of the old Baldwin Locomotive Works and the Liberty electric generating station in the background.
I really think they could have done better with those roof vents on the new sleeper/baggage cars  - they look like they were sourced from the nearest restaurant suppy store.

I agree.  But then again, the Viewliners are butt-ugly anyway, so not sure it would have made any difference.  Two wrongs don't make a right - I really wish the new Viewliners would have been made to the old standard AAR profile that the Heritage cars had.  But I'm sure that was never even considered. 

A question I perhaps should already know the answer to!  Where does the power change on 19 & 20?

Washington Union Station.

Do any of the old buildings at Baldwin Locomotive Works survive?  I'd like to visit that site next time I'm in the Philly area.

What's left of the Baldwin Eddystone plant? Not much. The main office building is still there - the cross shaped building. There are some historic photos hanging in the hallways. Otherwise, the rest of the property has been reveveloped as a mixed use shopping/office complex.
One of the buildings across the PRR main still stands and I think it was the boiler fabrication building.

That's a really neat map.  Thanks for posting the link.

I don't think you will ever see a diner on the Crescent again. After the plandemic is over they will have been forgotten about. Crews to staff them are probably all ready long gone and they were empty anyway once the coach passengers were banned.

"Crescent rolls" -- I liked that.
