After riding this week, most of this is false advertising.

If you don't like the food Amtrak offers on its trains, bring your own food and drinks.  Done this for last 20 years.

However do NOT bring a Sterno on board to heat your food!!!  Conductors don't like them.

Maybe this will help improve food service if this Bill passes

That would sound reasonable and consistent with how most airline menus are coded.

My idea of a flexible dining experience:

"Sir, this evening our flexible special is perch or walleye.  To go with your dinner, may I recommend one of our flexible beer offerings, Genesee Cream Ale or Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold Ale?"

No one hates you -- just the food.

Yup. I'm not traveling Amtrak for the food. If that's what's most important to you, choose an alternative.

Beware of the sodium in these meals. They are loaded with salt.

Just use what the T&E on Amtrak (and the freight roads) are using: The Hot Logic Mini...   https://hotlogicmini.com/

They could blow the circut breakers on passenger cars.

If you are referring to the HotLogic, that is unlikely to happen as they only draw 80 watts.  These amazing little heating devices are all about sustained moderate heat rather than a burst of heat so the wattage/amperage is low.

(For the uninitiated, HotLogic is a small food warmning device for a container about the size of a single frozen entree.  It heats to about 200 degrees on start-up and then levels off at about 180 [food safety level].  From frozen it takes about 2 hours, from thawed about 1 hour to produce a thoroughly heated meal of pre-cooked food without microwaves, open flames, extreme heat, or heavy power needs.  The unit is available for 110vAC and 12 vDC)

Same with restaurants.   Our last restaurant outing was March 8.   Since them I've returned to high school track team weight (170),  ditto BP,  all since eating at home with little meat, no salt, grease, etc.  Not to mention saving about $1000 a month.  Once things re-open. I wonder if we'll ever return to dining out as before.

Some people certainly will - I already have. Restaurants are open in my state. I'm sure it depends on the person and whether you are a home body or more extroverted. For me I got out as soon as I could as it is a major part of my social life.
