Passenger Trains > Amtrak 6 Stuck in McCook

I'm on Amtrak 6 now. Engine one having dynamic brake problems. Stuck in McCook, NE waiting for an engine crew from BNSF to bring down a freight engine to put on the front of us. It looks like we might be here a while, according to the conductor.

Are you blocking # 5 at the station.  He's not too far east of you.

i've spent a few hours "stuck" in mccook too.  i thought it was a nice little town............

nice and friendly people in a small midwest town atmosphere.  as far as afht's went, i'd take mccook any day.............

Honest question:  They've run #6 DEN-CHI with a single engine from time to time (usually, donating one at DEN when the #5 heading uphill has a dud).  What made this different that they couldn't just isolate the bad unit and run home with one active?

I do wonder why they don't just cut out the dynamic brakes and go like a real railroad would do?
