Beautiful sunny day to be ou railfanning
2nd shot was taken off Rt 156
First shot was in town off Brown st.

Like your #1 image. Thanks for sharing. BTW, is the railfan motel train watching  cabin in your 1st image on the right side ( north ? ) of the tracks ?

To add to me earlier post. As I watched 4 come to a stop in La Plata, I do not know if it was the engineer coming in too hot or the conductor not giving good enough stop directions, but they ended up unloading on the road instead of the platform.

Yes the railfan shack is on the right in the first pic. It is actually on the old Wabash RR tracks where they went over the Santa Fe
#4 did come in hot by Rt 156 and then crossed over from main 2 to 1 and engineer smoked the brakes to slow down for the crossover.

Here is my other reason for railfanning La Plata for a couple days. I got a new puppy from a rescue place a couple miles from La plata

I took most pics from either rt 156 or off lantern rd by Santa Fe lake
I did try to follow the tracks all the way to Marceline
