Date: 08/02/20 15:01 Re: Xtrain Los Angeles-Las Vegas on UP to start 2021 Author: pdt Did someone at the Las Vegas Review Journal pick up a "press release" from 2015, and not notice the date? The only thing this "company" has been successful at in the last 10 years, has been making press releases. It is totally un-capitalized, and has none of its ducks in a row.
I think we all know that this has a 0% chance of happening, and should just disregard it. Date: 08/02/20 15:14 Re: Xtrain Los Angeles-Las Vegas on UP to start 2021 Author: dan PacificElectric1961 Wrote:

A friend from LA told me - the LA station will require a trip across traffic clogged LA. And the Vegas station is nowhere near the Vegas Strip (the U.P. station will not be used) So, unless the Hotels offer free pickup from the rail station --I doubt the train will be successful. The article states the train will depart from Union Station in LA. The station location in Las Vegas had not yet been determined but it sounds like a location near the RIO hotel is a real possiblity. Date: 08/02/20 16:28 Re: Xtrain Los Angeles-Las Vegas on UP to start 2021 Author: wattslocal The train will only survive if it has cars loaded with slot machines.
Then the riders will not care about the long train ride. I know it is sinful to gamble in California, but our crooked politicians could easily change that. Maybe the train can run by a sacred Indian burial ground, and all would be justified Watts local Date: 08/02/20 17:12 Re: Xtrain Los Angeles-Las Vegas on UP to start 2021 Author: ProAmtrak Oh brother, didn't we hear this a few years ago? Watch it show up DOA again!
Date: 08/02/20 17:17 Re: Xtrain Los Angeles-Las Vegas on UP to start 2021 Author: goneon66 every time i was on #'s 35/36 it was packed. there were NO slot machines and it was NOT a quick trip.
i KNOW my wife and i were relaxing because were not dealing with the traffic congestion of the los angeles basin and could walk to our hotel at the end of our journey.......... 66 Date: 08/02/20 17:37 Re: Xtrain Los Angeles-Las Vegas on UP to start 2021 Author: co614 More nonsense. All I can tell you that there are a number of vendors throughout the greater Sante Fe area owed money by Michael Barron for work they did to the Sante Fe Southern property several years ago when Sante Fe Southern got involved with the whole X Train scam. Never trust a guy who doesn't pay his bills.

Conductor told me that esst of Vegas, the train was lightly populated. It was more that pleasant and relaxing. Arrived LAS after having dinner in the ex-ATSF diner and had a short cab ride to my hotel. No reason it couldn't be done again if UP would agree to some REASONABLE upgrades in signaling and passing sidings. Good luck on that! -John -John Date: 08/02/20 19:47 Re: Xtrain Los Angeles-Las Vegas on UP to start 2021 Author: jp1822 According to the article - and this one might actually be worth a read - the article quotes how XTrain execs have held discussions with Union Pacific and even Amtrak - as well as station folks. We all know how this has flopped in the past, and I am sure this is not going anywhere either, but nonetheless, the reporter at least tried to verify sources and discussions in play. To think that this "high-end" social experience rail journey (that's how they are billing it) is going to be in operation for Spring 2021 seems more than "out there!" I fear we will still be social distancing.
Date: 08/02/20 20:12 Re: Xtrain Los Angeles-Las Vegas on UP to start 2021 Author: TheNavigator An article in the Victor Valley Daily Press dated 12/24/2018 said the Xtrain operators are proposing a Friday LA-LV departure and Sunday LV-LA return, and that "the service is expected to begin mid-year 2019." Still waiting on that one.

The UP station is nowhere near the strip either, it is downtown. Date: 08/03/20 06:20 Re: Xtrain Los Angeles-Las Vegas on UP to start 2021 Author: DavidP SamRae Wrote:

Speaking of those types, I would think there would be a glut of quality vintage passenger equipment available following Iowa Pacific's bankruptcy.
