Amtrak 156 Leading Amtrak 3 Past Devil's Throne, New Mexico
Author: YardLimit

One of my favorite locations, one of my favorite locomotives, and my favorite time of year.  Amtrak 156, the Phase I Heritage unit leads Amtrak 3 past Devil's Throne near Los Cerrillos, New Mexico.  October 16, 2020.

And my favourite P42, the #77 tucked in behind #156. Great picture.

Decent size train, wonder if some cars were being deadheaded to Chicago or Beech Groove since LA won't need many cars with the SWC and CS tri weekly with smaller consists. If so doesn't bode well for larger consists over Turkey day and winter holidays.

Well since they were headed west on #3 I would say they were being deheaded to LA. It was 2 sleepers.

One of those deadheading sleepers was spotless, as it had just been released from Beech Grove with a facelift!
I hope it isn't just going West to be parked OOS!  It turned at LAX for #4(17)!  32111 freshly outshopped, for those lucky travelers.

Nice.  4(17) also has 156 leading with a deadheading Surfliner bringing up the rear.
