Passenger Trains > The Pennsylvanian & fall foliageDate: 10/25/20 05:07 The Pennsylvanian & fall foliage Author: bigsavage Amtrak #43, the Pennsylvanian, does its trips daily between NYC and Pittsburgh.
Watching this train in the Central PA. mountain scenery gives one hope that there is a future for Amtrak. 10/22/2020, Book's Crossing @ Tuscarora, Juniata County, PA. MP148.7 on NS's Pittsburgh Line. How cool would have it been to see something in a PRR way at some location. Thanks for sharing.

It jogged memories of being in this place in the late 60's (that is, 1960s) and wanting to get back there since! After much discussion with family foamers we came to the conclusion that the location is MEXICO, Pennsylvania and the tree covered mountain is Tuscarora Mountain which like many Pennsylvania mountains is on the map for 100 to 200 miles from the northeast part of the state to the southwest part. Believe me even black PC power looked good here!

How about some Tuscan Red Pullman Sleepers, with the Twin Unit Diner and Mountain View bringing up the rear? Course you'd never see the Broadway in daylight here - east or westbound.....Only in the cover of darkness - year-round! Hope for the future..........hmmmmm........how about CURED post-COVID-19 world with a Viewliner Diner, TWO Viewliner Sleepers, and a Viewliner Bagg/Dorm in this picture? Hope that the Broadway or "Son of Broadway" (aka Three Rivers) would return one day, rather than the midnight shuffle in Pittsburgh. One can dream! In PRR days, I'll bet there would have been the pole line on that side in that view...... SZ [ Maybe not -- but it was on the south side at, say, Denholm.] Date: 10/25/20 23:58 Re: The Pennsylvanian & fall foliage Author: 8notch Definitely a IOTD candidate.
Date: 10/26/20 13:44 Re: The Pennsylvanian & fall foliage Author: bigsavage Until 1994, there was a PRR signal bridge just west of the farm crossing.

Congratulations on the IOTD. /Ted Date: 10/28/20 07:36 Re: The Pennsylvanian & fall foliage Author: twinvalleyfiddler Well done. Congrats on IOTD.
Minor detail...and I only say it as I've been there many times and others may be wanting to find it....it's MP 148. When I was last there had a long conversation about the history of the area with Jacob (?) Book, current owner of the farm that spans this section of track! Used to be a Dragger there until PTC was installed plus a set of signals that would have been out of the shot just to the left.
