Passenger Trains > AMTK #638 leads Pennsylvanian EB through Metuchen at SunsetDate: 11/15/20 17:48 AMTK #638 leads Pennsylvanian EB through Metuchen at Sunset Author: Mgoldman Random shot of Amtrak's Pennsylvanian (Train No. 42), eastbound, Saturday evening just after 4 pm.
Shadows make shooting westbounds near impossible much past early afternoon. Seems best "over your shoulder" lighting on the NEC occurs ironically, around Noon. But... that was not what I was primarily after! /Mitch Edited 4 time(s). Last edit at 11/16/20 08:33 by Mgoldman. Those blue and gray bars on Amtrak's app can sometimes be a little confusing! /Mitch Date: 11/16/20 09:27 Re: AMTK #638 leads No 156 Eastbound through Metuchen at Sunset Author: Dcmcrider hsr_fan Wrote:

The Amfleet I's were often used for short runs or corridor portion (Harrisburg-Philly-NYP). The Amfleet II's are normal for the run west of Harrisburg. The business class car was typically an Amfleet I low density coach. Used to be half of the cafe car, but they replaced it with a low density coach few years back now. Anyway, why the extra "cars" it seems - not sure. But there definitely appears to be extra cars in the consist! Not sure if this train still flips with the Palmetto or not any more now (this was the norm for a while, but then I thnk Amtrak stopped doing that), especailly since the Palmetto is running just 3x per week. |
