Passenger Trains > NEC Holiday Extras

As far as I can tell, going thru amtrak.com, the only extra trains operating over Thanksgiving are:BOS-WAS trains 2164/2165 on Tue. Nov. 24 and Wed. the 25th, Regional 86 on the 25th, Regional 1135 on Sat. the 28th and Acelas 2235/2238 on Sun. the 29th , along with NY-WAS Regionals 133/134 on the 25th and Acela 2257/2262 on the 29th
Feel free to correct if I missed anything.  This is the first time in years that Amtrak has not come out with a Thanksgiving timetable for the NEC

Considering that the CDC and others are saying stay home and don't travel, I'm not surprised.

Crowds,will be riding the roofs.
 

CBS news in Chicago reported airport busy, people leaving Chicago for Holiday.   You can't do s--- in  Chicago so guess what the younger people living here are going to do.  If they don't travel and instead visit friends and hang out how is that going to be better?
  Even tho in the backwaters outside the city, bars and resteraunts are staying open.

A lot of colleges and Universities are are going to stay shut down after Thanksgiving, so not as big of a Sunday after Thanksgiving rush. Also the folks on my downtown bus route that have to use their paid time off before the end of the year are using it now around Thanksgiving, since there was no reason to use it before now. I would guess this is the case for a lot of other people so the travel rush may end up being spread out a bit more this year.

I guess we'll know next week!

Those who don't believe in government overreach and unconstitutional control will find ways to get around the restrictions. Here in Michigan restaurants are closed again. I'm guessing for longer than the 3 weeks currently mandated even without the needed legislative approval. . But if you want to have a nice in restaurant dinner, Ohio is only an  hour away. With a 10:00P curfew, it's easy to be back home by 11:00. For those in Chicago, Indiana isn't that far away.  During the pandemic, your personal vehicle, planes, and an Amtrak bedroom are probably three of the safest places you can be. Transportation industries are hurting badly enough already without further state government restrictions. Meanwhile governors in states like Ohio and Nebraska seem to have much more measured and sens-able approaches rather than shutting everything down. Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your travels. 

When in the ICU, one has no freedom either.  But 25% restaurant capacity seems to be safe enough without causing spikes.  

Both Ohio and Nebraska are over-night, flyover states, have zero interest in funding any service additions, nor much care about what little they have.

My sister works in the ICU at a hospital in PA. Real busy now because people have postponed getting their health problems addressed and now there is a wave of high-acuity patients that need help.

Let me know when someone produces an isolated, purified SARS Cov2 virus.

There's conservative heaven in South Dakota......no restrictions, huge infection rates, high per capital death rates and overcrowded near capacity hospitals. Almost heaven in many ways.

The medical profession was told to "stay in its lane" when they protested the body count flowing into emergency rooms due to gun violence.

This isn't much different.

In direct contradiction to MSMA, 15,000 or so doctors have signed a petition saying these restrictions are nonsense. Comes down to whom to believe. Been there before...what would King Solomon do?

Yeah, these are people who trained their whole lives to take care of sick people and how to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Why should people give them any credence over the advice of random people on the internet?

They use some kind of southern slang and scare message, , southern whites and blacks  can't grasp a fact based message outlining risks or detailing precautions.
Where I live people are saying hi to "Mawmaw" all the time, taking them to doctor, bringing groceries, medications, checking to make sure they are OK, visiting to prevent lonliness depression.  I suspect some may become infected, die, probably not more than in safer  state and private institutions.

1445 in one week at nursing homes in Illinois. When you read the deaths by county, so man in 90's, I can guess where they are mostly living.

NY's high death rate was last Spring. It has dropped dramatically since they know better how to treat it, there is PPE, and ICU's are not overwhelmed. NYC positivity rate is now 3%. South Dakota's is 55%. But upstate NY is now doing many times worse with the virus than last Spring. When people let their guard down, the virus will know it.

WHY can't people on this board stick to discussion of passenger issues?  We started out OK with this thread until andersonb109 had to launch another of his tirades and then everyone else felt compelled to either dispute or defend.  There are plenty of internet venues for discussion of political issues, not many for rail passenger issues.

"We have seen the faces of COVID-19 firsthand and the toll it takes on all frontline healthcare providers – nurses, physicians, nursing assistants, respiratory therapists, and many others every day. We also see the effect it has on patients and families suffering from the virus and the potential long-term health challenges it may pose.
