US DOT Secretary Elaine Chao announced her resignation today.  This resignation likely means that she is stepping down from her capacity as an Amtrak Board member.

She was worthless as her husband

The coward's way out of having to vote on the 25th.  I suppose voting either way would have political implications for Mitch McConnell. 

My understanding is - the Sec. of Trans. has an "Automatic" seat on the Amtrak Board

So, she is out - and Mayor Pete is in.

Amtrak just got dealt a better hand.

It has been standard practice for over 30 years that the Secretary of Transportation makes and appearance at one Amtrak BOD meeting at the beginning of their term and is never seen again, a staff member attends for all future meetings.

Not holding my breath  Ronald, been around the block too many times to get excited about Amtrak when it comes to a new Administration!

When Mineta was DOT Secy, Jeff Rosen often stood in for him, and lead a rebellion against David Gunn. 

She did say that she and her staff would be assisting Pete in the transition. Of course, this was after her husband is no longer the Senate Majority Leader. I believe Trump appointed her to another postion in the Pentagon, if I am not mistaken.

And that's why Amtrak is where its at now, because once Gunn go fired the LDS Crap happened no thanks to Kenneth Mead and everything else demanding Amtrak to reduce losses!

The Washington Post mentioned that the DOT Inspector General is completing a report on complaints Secretary Chao used her position to benefit her husband's constituents.  That report may be released in the near future.  She is particularly pleased with her "removal of rules which caused an overhang of regulation on the transportation industry".

If the Amtrak station in the town he was formerly the mayor of is any indiciation, he won't be any better. South Bend station is a dump.

With Mayor Pete, 100% chance things will not get any worse, and 65% chance things will get better.  IMHO.
Mayor Pete is a smart guy who can problem solve.  He has admitted that everything he did in South Bend did not work as planned. Cant see how u would think he could be any worse than the wife of senator/another family member getting a fat federal pension, rubber stamp seat warmer.

Oh, and BTW, the condition of the South Bend RR station has nothing to do with how he will be as secy of Transportation.   Appears as though u were just looking for something negative to say..
