Passenger Trains > DC Metro to cap its subsidy request for this year

The Washington Post reports that the agency which runs the Washington area metro transportation will not ask for an increase in subsidy payments from its sponsoring agencies.  Virginia and Maryland  have capped the annual subsidy for operations at no more than 3%, the District does not have this cap.  The agency faces higher costs due to cleaning, etc even as revenues have plummeted.  The decision was based on the funds anticipated from the recently passed stimulus bill which provided $14 bn for transit across the US.
