Sunny Saturday
Author: aussiehinz

It was great to see the sunshine and notice the temperatures moderate in Chicagoland today. 28 degrees surely feels much better than 8. I caught Amtrak's 50th Anniversary P42 #46 on inbound Train #49 as it turned at 18th Street. I remember taking photos on Amtrak's very first day, May 1st, 1971, and, with any luck, I'll be taking pictures of it on its 50th Anniversary, coming up in a couple of months. Not too bad for a railroad that those on the "inside" did not expect to last more than two years. Also was happy this afternoon to catch #7 launching for the Pacific Northwest, and to see spotless Phase 2 #130 lead the "Southwest Chief away from town at "MH" Tower..

Cheers,
aussiehinz

Great to see the baggage and transdorm are still on the builder.

It's been a mainstay on the Builder, even after it went tri-weekly......Supposedly, they've not been booking roomettes there, but my Oct sleeping car attendant thought they had retained it specifically in case that should be the case in the future, as opposed to putting a second full sleeper AND having the Trans-Dorm Sleeper. He didn't think the second Seattle sleeper would be coming back online any too soon - that was back in Oct 2020.
