Seattle Talgo 6 snuck away
Author: Macster

One of the former WSDOT Talgo Series 6 sets seems to have disappeared. The remaining one is still on King Street 7 but has anyone seen the other?

Sources previously known to be unreliable have it moving to Anaheim, CA for a private buyer.

From  Heads-up Coast Fans ---blogAmtrak Cascades Series 6 Talgo's are being scrapped. There will be two sets of these Series 6 Railcars coming down this Saturday. As of writing this email, it appears it will be lead by Dash-8 #506. It will roughly follow #11's timetable and depart Seattle Tomorrow, Saturday 2-27-2021

They should sell some of the seats on Ebay.

If these are really being scrapped, what stupid needless tragedy.  Perfectly good equipment, which is needed across the country in various corridors disappears.  Don't tell me about ignorant government agencies, who have proclaimed these trains as dangerous.  The swamp in DC does not produce good policy or decisions.

About 10:45 a.m. today (Friday) the deadhead move of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Baker (coupled together) from Seattle was scrubbed because of an electrical contactor problem.

As with the tucker and the B-49, we cant let a good idea and something that works, stand in the way of making sure the "right" people make money. I want Amtrak to succeed as a passenger RR, but nonsense like this just makes me want to throw in the towel.

What exactly does Amtrak have to do with this decision? The NTSB made their recommendation, The States of Washington and Oregon made the decision to scrap the sets as they are the OWNERS, not Amtrak. Amtrak went to bat for them for years to operate these sets with approval from the FRA. If you want to bash someone without basis, at least bash the right parties.

At one time Amtrak owned the unit that was to start Las Vegas service.  It went to Washinton.  Did they buy it and was it one that went to scrap?

Washington bought it. North Carolina wanted it and Washington outbud them.
