What happened between Seattle and Salem to get todays No.11 2-1/2 hours behind schedule? And 5-1/2 hours late getting to Salem for todays No.14?

I dunno, but #14 was late again last night, by about an hour at San Jose, according to a dinner guest who was trying to catch it despite a miserable trip down the previous Friday.

CTC problems right at PDX. The Plant at CPS 000 was out and the DS was trying to find a maintainer to fix it. Still not sure why we can't just take the switches in hand and go. But leave it to the UPRR to put in a system that won't let a train crew do that.

#11 arrived around 20-minutes early -- Dash-8 #509 was dropped off in Portland, but the engine sat in front of the Starlight on track 5 in Portland Union Station, waiting for signal. Train didn't depart until 509 finally moved out of the way at 4:30, 2 hours and 15 minutes late.
