It's not bad -- at least it colorful.  Wish I could say it's great ---

But, I am forever doomed, because I've seen that gorgeous Illinois Central color scheme of Brown & Orange, trimmed in Yellow.

Haha--you're my brother there, ronald321.   I saw those IC colors when I was only 4 and have been hooked ever since!
This one looks fine, though, and looking forward to seeing and possibly running Amtrak 301, the one that is painted like the first Amtrak-paint loco, ex PC 4316.

Brown and orange is nice, but Daylight Red and Orange is better.

Amen to that.   Plus I'd add ATSF warbonnet,  NYC lightning stripe,  GN original green/orange, NP two-tone green,  and any number of EMD-designed liveries ahead of brown/orange.

Guaranteed it won't work. 

My assumption. The chargers will be like the roll out of the GE's. Here is the book, if you have a problem, level 3 code, reset and if that doesn't work reboot. Thats pretty much been the mantra for the entire P42 fleet since day 1.

Personally, I figure the chargers will be the 21st century version of the P30  AT BEST.

They work fine out West. I think the reason they don't work in the Midwest has more to do with the shops that are maintaining them than the equipment itself.

OK, but what about the snow ?

To test this scientifically, swap 2 pairs of Chargers between the west and the midwest, and compare their MDBF after 3 months Dec-Feb. A halfway responsible Amtrak CMO would do that. This is nothing more than a rapid transit concept used when identical car types are assigned to 2 car barns, yet one batch performs significantly better than the other.

Except, Amtrak has ZERO ZILCH NADA NET NONE control over where those CALIFORNIA STATE OWNED and WASHINGTON STATE OWNED and OREGON STATE OWNED Chargers can be used.

Of course, none of those CALIFORNIA STATE OWNED and WASHINGTON STATE OWNED and OREGON STATE OWNED Chargers are ever touched by the crews at Beech Grove, which is widely known to have a poor history of properly maintaining locomotives.

And the Midwest chargers aren’t touched by Beech Grove either.... don’t forget the Midwest chargers are still under warranty and plenty of maintenance is done by Siemens techs that work in Chicago.

Are you sure it's Siemens techs that do the work or is it the normal way where the Amtrak workers do the work "supervised" by Siemens techs.
