Passenger Trains > Close to a year ago at Elmira, CA, April 26, 2020Date: 04/03/21 13:37 Close to a year ago at Elmira, CA, April 26, 2020 Author: IC_2024 We see #6 coming as heat waves rise over the old house track that still sees occasional M of Way equipment. The "Covid" Zephyr is still running daily, but has a little less than six months to go before all LDT's are cutback, except for Auto-Train.
Always like seeing the Veteran's engine, #42, and looking forward to seeing the new schemes, too. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/03/21 13:51 by IC_2024. M of Way severed the connection there when beets left around 1997, but the signal protecting the #2 main is oddly still there. I got out here in '88, so never saw any beet gons there,, but wpamtk saw them, and has "photo' proof of it, too ( nowww, where oh where could that little ol' slide be?!?) lol

And on the date you took that picture and changed the year to 1982, there would be beet gons everywhere being loaded as Sptreckles at Spreckles ran a 3 month campaign off of those loaders between April and June. Later that summer Spreckles at Woodland would run a short campaign out of Webster Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/03/21 16:38 by WAF. I do remember seeing the old RoW approaching Vacaville at a couple of places, but never went out to Elmira until much later. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaca_Valley_and_Clear_Lake_Railroad + went to historicaerials dot com and I think I see what's going on, the water tank is visible and the branch curving to the west, Interesting stuff. + and this one: Date: 01/04/04 14:59 Elmira, CA Author: stash https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,667131,667617#msg-667617 Edited 2 time(s).
