Passenger Trains > Riding The Train To Nirvana

I did a double take this morning while reading Politico and I came across a photo of an Amtrak train. For a moment I thought I was on a different site, but no, it was really Politico.

It's a fun read featuring three railfans watching Biden's infrastructure announcement last week.

They certainly came down to earth by the end of the Politico article. But not a word in the article about improving the long distance network, their rapidly aging cars, or expanding with needed connecting routes (e.g. Chicago to Florida, SLC to LA, etc.).

And even talk about a high speed train coast to coast met reality:
“He’s [Biden] talking about a coast-to-coast, high speed railroad passenger train. It’s rather breathtaking.”
But not everyone is sold. Shughart, a rail consultant jumped in: “He’s not going to build a high speed rail coast to coast with this money.”
“Well,” Cupper added, “he’s really talking about high speed being available from coast to coast in selected corridors.”

Thought the op might have something to do with Kurt Cobain on yesterday's anniversary of his passing

$80 billion wouldn't even be enough to bail out the bloated California project
