No Trinidad in a passenger train-friendly state of Colorado to connect with the Chief, but Cheyenne for a double-ended stub from Pueblo. Expecting Wyoming to contribute operating subsidies or cooperating in any way is like expecting Amelia Earhart to come in for a landing.

A detail question - how would a front range line work in Denver?  If the goal is a relatively high speed train, making a reverse move into or out of Union Station isn't exactly idea.  But having two Amtrak stations a few blocks apart is not idea for passenger transfers.

Well this depends on the US Senate  doesn't  it, and the votes are not there, more articles check ch 4, 31 and 9 in denver, maybe 7as well

update ch 31 just spelled it out this push is independent of federal funding with a front range taxation district, with the timing i thought it was linked to the Biden plan...so sorry

Sort of like Harrisburg and Pittsburgh trains changing ends in 30th Street Station Philadelphia. There is a lot of rider turn over there, as there would be in Denver, likely more-so.They go in excess of 100MPH on either side of Philly.

For a local Colorado service, I'd rather see them contact it out to RTD, something like Bustang,  and not let Amtrak gunk up the works with their accounting and crappy maintenance.

No different than the LA Union Station with the Pacific Surfliner running from San Diego to LA and on up the coast line to San Luis Obispo and intermediate points. Trains have to head in to LA and the reverse back out with the a cab unit, for example.

And it seems to work just fine too.

I can't get in to either file, but I presume this is the talked about service from Cheyenne to Pueblo, with a stop into Denver, but no connection to the Southwest Chief line. So two states involved in said service????

Dumb to not have a connection with 3/4 in Trinidad unless you reroute it from La Junta to Pueblo and onto Trinidad

Would rather a front range train connect in Trinidad or LA Junta   SW chief is slow enough as is crawling over Raton and Glorietta  , perhaps NM can join the party some day, they almost did.

It is NO accident there is no SW Chief connection. Amtrak does not want to help the LD trains one bit. It could not be more obvious.

CDOT does thou, they are funding busses to all parts of the sate at least providing options to connect with  on time #3  into CS and DEN and  #4  iirc east bound from the front range, weekdays-no holidays, iirc  and amtrak thruway service facilitating good connections to and from the west, it can be done!

so today the hard core traveler may have been able to go kc-den with the help of 2 buses and a cab perhaps, not sure of locations in LMR  and LAJ of the bus  vis a vi the rr depots  havn't researched it that far

with amtrak doing the thruway, it shows interest on their part ...on the other i cannot find the trhuway bus on their website  currently, but many bus lines run from denver to abq and even el paso  THE LAST 2 PAGES 3 AND4 ARE MISSING WITH CONNECTIONS

Has anyone seen an indication of when this might happen. Amtrak has published this route in its 2035 vision -- that 14 years from now.

In my previous life we called things like this vaporware

And we can say the same thing about Amtrak's proposal for a LA --  Las Vegas route. Why not extend it to Salt Lake City. Oops that would make it a long distance train. Nope can't do that.

You get it.

They want locals to pay for everything, LA&SL is not that busy now.  When a PSR train breaks in two in nevada that can be 5 hour repair then the crew is dead.   Atk does not want to switch cars in SLC or anywhere, they would hire a contractor, maybe they could get Utah's front runner to do it for them?

There are 2 passenger stations in stockton, California a few miles apart that seems to work just fine.

RTD all ready has two stations in denver , all lines from the south and golden  that serve lower downtown (LRC) arrive at a depot 2 blocks west of track one at Union Station technically, it is almost connected  almost was  magic carpet but that was axed to save 2 million.

A run-through track could save 20 minutes, or more, per trip. That's pretty significant and that's why there are plans to build one.
