Seems like an interesting place to find an Amtrak California car (4th in photo 1).  Is that normal now ?

Was just going to mention the same thing!!! Haven't seen that in a LONG while!!!! Back when the Pacific Surfliners (the bi-levels in the blue and silver livery that is) were first debutting, there were some of these cars around. I still even remember a few of the ole "San Diegan" Amfleet and Metroliner Cab Car train sets around in 1999-2001 before all Surfliner sets were fully deployed!

Looks like the Rainbow Days are back on the "San Diegan" :-)

Reports say 10 or 12 California cars were sent to LA, some months back.

Story was to release some Amtrak owned cars that were being leased, including the Horizon - Amfleet.
All unconformed, waiting for the facts!

So then what is being used to protect the California Cars that operated between San Jose and Sacramento/Bakersfield if 10 to 12 cars were transferred to LA? Presumably frequencies have been reduced on all CA Corridors. Has California been testing its new single level corridor cars that it can get right out on the road as frequencies increase though perhaps? Interesting if the mix and match will continue!!!

I too wondered about that Cali car down south. But I guess, since new single level train sets are going to start up north, I wonder if most/all of the Cali cars will eventually be Surfliner painted?
