What if this actually gets built and works?  Think of the consequences.....mind blowing for sure.

I don't really consider Victorville to be Los Angeles.  Rhetorical question, but what happens when I step off the train at Victorville and want to get to downtown LA proper?

I believe they are planning a connection, possibly with MetroLink in Palmdale.

Here we go again.   Anyone want to bet on how the muni bond market will receive the bonds this time?   For the most part, the markets were not particularly bad for most of 2020.  But the reason they couldn't price the bonds was because there was little or no interest due to the underlying project and lack of sufficient revenue stream to meet bond debt service. And neither CA or NV are going to put their credit on the line for this deal.   Even the greediest yield chasers 'didn't care';  the last two words being the kiss of death for any bond issue an underwriter is trying to sell.   Been there, done that.   More than once and for projects that had a better potential than Brightline to Vegas.

The most realistic/rhetorical answer would be to hop on the Southwest Chief (Amtrak #3) at Victorville. Unfortunately, #3 stops there at 4:24 am.

Unless Brightline is planning simultaneous constructions of both Victorville/Las Vegas and Victorville/Palmdale segments, the Palmdale idea isn't even worthy of being rhetorical.

But that is the most viable way to reach Los Angeles from Victorville, if all the plans come to fruition. Too early to tell right now.

I didn't know this is a sports bet? Sure sounds like a typical verbal brawl at a sports bar!

Negative?  Not me,  just my take after 50+ years of structuring/trading muni bonds, which included being on the committment committee of a top three Wall St firm.  Believe me,  people in my business could not care less what a project is,  investment decisions are based on one section in the offereing documents:  "Security for the Bonds". If that section is iffy, you have what's called a story bond.   The story on this one didn't pencil out last year and I don't see it doing so this year.  And Fortress didn't get where they are today by putting their own dollars in such deals.

Maybe he was one of the followers in the EEE cult where no blame is put on the dear leader because he is a "dreamer", not a bad businessman making nightmares.lol

This is different.
With the private sector working on this project, I feel it will go much smoother.
People will enjoy relaxing on this trip.
You can get on the train, put your feet up, have a drink or coffee.
Move across the desert and leave the driving behind
I would bet money on this project.

If their Florida experience is any indication, this project will be a sucess.

This ain't Florida.  It's a whole different story out here. You're dealing with two different states and the federal government.

Not to mention in Florida they didn't have to build an entirely new railroad to start running passenger trains.  And does anyone consider that the Brightline operation might be  a loss leader to boost real estate valuations along the right of way,  especially around stations?   Not to mention Brightline connects cities with their business centers et al.   Victorville to Vegas captures mostly, if not totally,  point to point travel to what is pretty much a discretionary travel destination.  Then factor in the cost of 3-4 train tickets vs 3-4 people in one car and it doesn't even make economic sense.

Are you telling me people go to Vegas because they're concerned about things making economic sense?
