Rocky Mountaineer consist on its way to the USA.
Author: eminence_grise

The consist for the "Red Rocks" Rocky Mountaineer is on its way to Denver CO. from the RM yard at Kamloops BC. Routing in Canada was east to Golden BC and then south to Kingsgate BC/Eastport ID.  An all UP routing to Denver?

No Rocky Mountaineer locomotive with the consist, probably they are not US compliant.

All of the cars are former CN/Via coaches, most converted to "Silver Leaf" glass to cars. RM is selling "Silver Leaf Plus" which includes access to a lounge car with enhanced meal service and an open bar.

"Silver Leaf" cars have flight kitchen meals served at your seat from a servery on the car.

Rocky Mountaineer is now an Aeroplan partner, and apparently Aeroplan points can be redeemed for journeys on RM. Not sure if Star Alliance is included.

Here's a post from last night with a video of the train: https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?4,5274787

The train left Hinkle this morning, and is due Pocatello tonight.

I had friends considering taking this until I informed them of the no return deposit fiasco. They decided it wasn't worth the risk.

VIA Rail trains have safety glass rather than FRA Type II Lexan, and I assume RMR cars do too ?
I suppose that is not an issue running entirely within the States ?

This may have been the train that was on the Revelstoke VFR camera a few days ago.

Credit card companies don't always take your side, except for tiny items where it is not worth their while to do the legal research. RMR is not one of those cases.

And I wouldn't be surprised that the conditions of contract for the purchase specifically allow for RMR to give you a credit if the trip is canceled.

I am sure RMR's accountants and lawyers have it all figured out what they can get away with, given which country the buyer is from. I think they were more lenient with the Brits.

Judging by Hinkle and SLC, running quite a bit slower than the Pioneer used to.

The difference with the Brits was not Rocky's policy, but rather British consumer protection law. That required travel agents to make good on their customers' losses, so the uposhot is that it is the British travel agents who were left holding the bag. I expect they will be very enthusiastic to recommend Rocky to their customers in future -- not.
