The Time I Questioned The Wisdom Of Making This Video
Author: walstib

This is the time of year I look forward to taking advantage of the longer days by catching trains in sunlight not available the rest of the year.

Of course that only works out when Amtrak is running on time -- or, gasp, early -- but that wasn't the case last night when number 8 came through with two private cars. It was 45 minutes late by the time the Empire Builder from Seattle made Leavenworth.

So, I worked with the light I had.

First clip is the train crossing the Wenatchee River at Dryden.

By the time the train made Trinidad it was so dark that even I was questioning the wisdom of trying to make a video. I did it anyway. Take a look at the results.

That bride is super interesting Brian, don't know if I've seen one like that before.  As for the video, excellent work as always.  That night scene was terrific!

I like the Trindiad shot, a lot more than the now-cliché streaks of light time exposure.

Nice video of no. 8, be nice if the private cars were on the rear!

It's amazing to me (a lifelong still photo guy) the conditions under which video works when stills don't. Your nighttime video works, big time. But it wouldn't work as stills.

I knew immediately where that bridge is.  I so miss the days of whitewater kayaking the Wenatchee River...
