Cool shots! Any idea on a time frame when this train arrives Glenwood Springs, and where it lays over until the next day?

Does the section foreman still live in that house to the right of the picture?

No idea on anyone living at East Portal, CO, these days.  Place was full of parked vehicles from folks hiking the area.

the houses are abandoned and vandalized with an effort to preserve them occasionally, but arson will inevitable happen sooner or later

Foreman was there to keep trespassers away from the tunnel before 911.Also keep the railroad open in bad weather. Is the section house still at Cliff where Carlos, the other foreman lived? He got a derailed train in his living room. Knowing the UP, they probably closed these houses when the men retired

From the photo it appears UP has removed signals and some track from the area.

Autumn colors will peak at the Moffat Tunnel this coming weekend (Sept 25-26).  View is muted on days that western wildfire smoke drifts into Colorado, such as today (Sept 23).
