Violent Assault outside Los Angeles Union Station

More violence near L.A. Union Station. So glad I don't have to go Downtown anymore.

So sorry to hear about this and prayers to the victim and her family and friends. The area around LA Union Station can get dingy.

So where do you go anymore?  You've said in other posts that you won't go to San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and Oakland because they're not safe.

Perhaps he goes to Florida where crimes are actually prosecuted. South Dakota and Texas (except for Austin) also come to mind.   The scum bag who did the assault will probably be out with no bail by morning.

I totally disagree with your opinions, and would thank you to keep the topic to railroads, and not your personal; opinions. I live in CA, im happy here, and we prosecute crimes.   This person will never be out on bail. Bad mouthing big cities is popular among provencial, small minded people.
No where in this world is perfect.
This isnt a topic about trains at all, its about crime.  I guess we need the crime thread, the I hate amtrak thread, the I hate paying taxes thread, and the Im an old poring fart who has no life and just liokes to sit around and complain thread.

PS..the attack was at a bus station, not even LAUS.  I guess u should just never take the bus anywhere.

Please delete this topic.  Thank you.

Wrong.  It occurred at a bus STOP, not a bus station.   The address was given in the referenced article...and guess what is right across the street...(Google Earth image)

Aha, so that explains why Florida famously has very few crimes, much less bizarre ones.

That's the back side of Union Station, near where Flixbus has their small facility.  Closer to the Patraious Bus Plaza.

Put LA in perspective. Last night, 5 people were stabbed in 3 separate incidents at Chicago Loop CTA stations between 9 p.m. last night and 4:30 this morning. (No arrests).

Basically train29 is Bruce Anderson, back again but with a name change.  Same politics, same jabs.  Sorry to see that we seem to want to have politics back in train watching discusson groups.

it would seem to me that safety and/and or crimes of violence IN or AROUND any passenger train station is TRAIN related and worthy of discussion here..........

No, it is not.  Remember to some folks this should only be the `"Amtrak is Awesome" board.  No negativity in any way shape or form should be tolerated.  If you are  not praising Amtrak, you have no business on here.  And some posters have said so.

I moved away for a reason and no they do not prosecute certain crimes, prop 47 made sure of that... my car was broken into 4 times since that passed with a call to the police and a number for insurance but they wouldn't investigate... or the open shooting up on the streets or the smash and grabs....
